Wellbeing
Beamish Primary School prioritises the wellbeing of children during their formative years. We provide a nurturing and structured environment where young learners feel safe, valued, and encouraged to explore. Through caring relationships with teachers and staff, children build trust and develop emotional resilience. We promote healthy habits by incorporating physical activity, balanced meals, and lessons on personal hygiene and mental health. Activities like storytelling, art, and play help children express themselves and manage emotions. By fostering a sense of belonging and celebrating each child's unique strengths, Beamish Primary School lays the foundation for lifelong confidence and well-being.
All our staff are trained in nurture principles, attachment and trauma. We run interventions using the zones of regulation, Lego Therapy and Build to Express. We have support staff trained in developing emotional literacy. Beamish has its own Nurture Hub, and we have developed nurture principles throughout the school.
Judith Russell is our Mental Health First Aider.
